In
this session I plan to focus on shot rate and really try to get close to 100%
accuracy in my shots. In doing this I will have full confidence that I have
completed the past eleven sessions to my full extent. I am going to aim on
fixing certain habits that I may have picked up on throughout my sessions that
could potentially affect my overall shot rate and consistency.
A
successful free throw shot requires good concentration, relaxation, but most
importantly good body mechanics in the shot itself (Piano, 2013) .
This is why it is important for me to
correct each and every phase so that my
body mechanics are perfect.
Design of session:
1.
Have
a few practice shots
2.
Attempt
5 sets of 10 final free throw shots combining everything that I have learnt, mental
preparation alongside each component of the 6 phases

I
got 40 out of 50 shots in the basket, for me this was a huge success. It wasn’t
quite 100% that I wanted but it was close enough for me!
Reflection:
Over
the past 12 sessions I have been anxious to whether or not I was learning
anything and whether or not I was processing the skills and phases of
fundamental movements. But after this session I came to grasp with the overall
concept that I had learnt and pretty much perfected a whole new skill.
Personally to me this was a huge achievement, for me the main barrier was
having the confidence to be able to keep going with the skill when my shot rate
was not getting any better. I overcame this and it drove me harder to perfect this
skill.
Overall
this past month has been a great experience and I would highly recommend to
anyone that if they want to take up a new skill, then go for it! Thank you to
everyone who has had the time to help me with either videoing or knowledge
about the skill of a basketball free throw.
